7. Practice supplies

Consumables and medicines are available in sufficient quantity and stored properly. Ordering is organised internally. Checking expiry dates makes sure materials and medicines are only used within their shelf life § 5 no. 7 QSV.

8. Professional qualification

The dentist knows the current state of science in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and keeps learning: in the Dental Chamber's training programme, through recognised foreign or other courses, or by studying literature and guidelines, as the law requires § 5 no. 8 QSV § 17 ZÄG.

Staff's professional training is encouraged § 5 no. 9 QSV.

The radiation protection refresher

Anyone who takes X-rays or is involved in the practical side takes refresher training of at least four hours in intervals of five years; the first interval starts with the year after they start the work § 9(3) MedStrSchV. More in lesson 5.3.

Working as a dental assistant without the qualification, or using someone without it for that work, is an administrative offence with a fine of up to €4,000 § 89(4) ZÄG.

The answer is B: At least four hours in intervals of five years. Those concerned must take refresher training of at least four hours in intervals of five years (§ 9(3) MedStrSchV); the QSV requires the practice to see to it (§ 5 no. 9).
